INTRODUCTION

The incidence of childhood cancer is approximately the same worldwide; about 140 cases per year per million people below 18 years. In the larger area of Jakarta with population of over 12 million people there are an estimated 650 new cases of children with cancer per year. As for Indonesia with the population of over 220 million people, there are estimated yearly incidences of 11.000 new cases of childhood cancer; most of them are families that cannot afford to pay for the medical treatment expenses.

BACKGROUND 
 
The Indonesian Childhood Cancer Foundation (ICCF) was founded on May 24th 1993 by a group of parents, grateful for the recovery for their son / daughter who were inflicted with cancer, supported by sympathizers, volunteers, psychologists and doctors.
ICCF believes that every child with cancer, regardless of their financial or social status, deserves access to the best possible treatment and care.

VISION

  • To develop children welfare in the field of health care especially the prevention, early detection and treatment of childhood cancer in Indonesia.
  • To raise community awareness and attention to childhood cancer.

MISSION

  • To raise funds to support those who cannot afford medical treatment expenses
  • To increase the awareness of childhood cancer and its early detection, through seminars for public, schools and social health volunteers. conducting courses for health professionals and paramedics.
  • To offer comfort, advice or assistance to the patients and families through our Family Supporting Group.
  • To raise funds for the provision of proper and affordable facilities equipments and services.
  • To cooperate with other social organizations, institutions, hospitals, universities and other relevant bodies.

    ICCF is supported by The Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia and International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP). Since 1999, ICCF has joined International Confederation of Childhood Cancer Parents Organizations (ICCCPO), which founded in Spain in 1994. At the moment, it has 96 member organizations from 61 different countries.
